Our garden is a hugely important part of the nursery. Children get creative in the mud kitchen, test their abilities on the climbing frame and slide, and learn to use real woodworking tools with support from our team. Along the way, they build confidence and learn to judge risks.

A nursery that feels like a family Friends of all ages, familiar faces and a real community

Children move freely between the spaces in their part of the nursery, so they play alongside older and younger children every day and grow in confidence from it. Our team gets to know every child, and parents often tell us it feels more like a family than a nursery. Events through the year bring families in to join us, so you get to know each other too.

Our focused settling in programme starts before your child joins us, and finishes with a review after 6 weeks to ensure your needs are being met.

What Bristol parents say

For more than 30 years, families have trusted us to care for their children from as young as 6 months until they’re ready to start school. Here’s what they have to say about their experience.

  • “They seem to know our little girl well and she’s formed a nice bond with most of them already. We particularly like the family feel at the place and outdoor space… It’s huge! They are outside daily, rain or shine!”

    Annie T.
  • “What truly sets this nursery apart is their exceptional provision for special educational needs (SEN)… My son has needed specialist support, the staff have not only liaised with all the external paediatric support teams but provided reassurance for us navigating through the challenges of the SEN system.”

    Maria W.
  • “She can be shy and slow to connect to people but she has built such good relationships… We have also shared photos/stories from home to her profile and staff then talk about it with her… it really just feels like an extension of her family.”

    Gemma K.

A historic manor house with an extensive garden

🏡

Our space

Large windows fill the manor house with natural light, creating bright, airy rooms with a warm, homely feel. Upstairs in Treetops, babies and our youngest toddlers move between rooms, while Woodlands downstairs offers older toddlers and pre-schoolers the same freedom to explore. Our team arranges resources for open-ended play, inviting children to follow their interests, develop their ideas and discover what they can do.

🌿

Outdoors

Our large, private garden is open throughout the day and enjoyed in most weathers. Children build obstacle courses, get creative in the mud kitchen and challenge themselves on the climbing frame and slide. Trees and planting bring nature into their play, and the children are helping to develop a vegetable garden. With our team’s support, they also create with real woodworking tools, building confidence as they learn to judge risks.

You'll find us at 145 Southmead Road. The nursery is set back from the main road in its own grounds. There are parent drop-off spaces outside on the main road. We're a short walk from the Lake Road bus stops, with the 2, 2a and Y6 providing links into Bristol.
